MARINE INFORMATION
JONES INLET – The Coast Guard has reported shoaling and increased surf in the vicinity of Buoys 1, 2, 3 & 4.
GREAT SOUTH BAY – Piling repairs on the Robert Moses Causeway are underway. Construction equipment will be blocking certain ‘bays’ in the span. Mariners are advised to navigate in the main channel.
MORICHES – The Coast Guard has reported severe shoaling extending out 100 yards west from the East Jetty of Moriches Inlet. Extreme caution is advised.
SHINNECOCK – The Coast Guard has reported a submerged vessel approximately 150 yards north of Buoy 26 (position 40 50N 072 29W) in East Shinnecock Bay. Extreme caution is advised.
Governor Pataki expected to sign boating bill (S04129) prohibiting persons under the age of 14 from operating a PWC. ‘Grandfather’ conditions would apply until Jan.1, 2009.
