Equipment requirements for passing inspection (you must meet both state and federal requirements):

Federal: USCG interactive online safety check

State: NYS equipment requirements for boats (see Part 3, pgs 19-28)

Note: USCGA performs a "courtesy inspection" i.e. if you do not pass you do not get a ticket. If you are stopped on the water and caught short it may cost you. So there's nothing to lose and everything to gain!
